Resistance management

Also known as: pesticide resistance strategy

Full explanation

The six golden rules of resistance management: (1) rotate groups within a season, not across years; (2) tank-mix with a multi-site partner; (3) use full label dose — under-dosing selects resistant populations faster; (4) monitor efficacy promptly (threshold ≥85% control within 10 days); (5) use agronomic tactics — crop rotation, mechanical weeding, seed treatment; (6) report low-efficacy cases to Ukraine via IRAC/FRAC/HRAC country monitoring. Documented resistant populations in Ukraine: Lolium multiflorum against ACCase herbicides (HRAC 1) in Odesa oblast, Zymoseptoria tritici against strobilurins (FRAC 11) on winter wheat in the Western Forest-Steppe, aphids against pyrethroids (IRAC 3A) on rapeseed. The strategy aligns with EU Farm-to-Fork targets of 50% pesticide reduction by 2030.
