Powershift vs Vario

Also known as: powerquad, CVT transmission

Full explanation

Powershift: advantages — simpler design, lower cost, durability under heavy loads, easy service; drawbacks — discrete gears, less efficient use of the engine range; found on: Case IH Maxxum/Puma, JD 6R/7R (standard option), NH T6, Massey Ferguson 6700/6600. Vario / CVT: advantages — continuously variable (0 → 50 km/h), optimal power use, 5–12% fuel savings; drawbacks — high cost (+15–25%), complex electro-hydraulics, costly overhaul (UAH 500k–800k); found on: Fendt Vario, Deutz TTV, Valtra Direct, NH T7.300 AutoCommand, JD 6R/7R/8R (AutoPowr), Case IH Maxxum CVX/Puma CVX. Ukraine trend 2020+: CVT is quickly displacing Powershift in 200+ HP (Fendt — 80–90% of that segment).
