CVT transmission

Also known as: stepless transmission, Vario, IVT, AutoPowr

Full explanation

CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is a class of stepless transmissions, first introduced by Fendt in 1995 as Vario. Today it is used in the premium segment by all major manufacturers: John Deere AutoPowr/IVT, Fendt Vario, Massey Ferguson Dyna-VT, Case IH CVT Drive, New Holland Auto Command. CVT combines hydrostatic drive (for smooth regulation) with mechanical drive (for high-speed efficiency). Advantages: 8–12% fuel savings, longer engine life, smooth operation in complex operations. Cost runs 15–25% above PowerShift.
