Liquid NPK suspensions

Also known as: liquid NPK, suspension fertilizers

Full explanation

In Ukraine the most popular liquid NPK is 10-34-0 (ammonium polyphosphate), applied as starter band-row on corn, sunflower, soybean. Density 1.40 kg/L. Allows precise local dosing 80–150 L/ha via planter injectors. Advantages over solid NPK: (1) in-row uniformity (no granule size segregation); (2) immediately-available phosphorus as ortho-phosphate after 2–3 weeks of soil hydrolysis from polyphosphate; (3) compatibility with herbicides and insecticides in a single pass. Imported from USA (Potash Corp, Simplot), Europe (Yara, Borealis); no Ukrainian production. April 2026 price: UAH 22 000–28 000/t [VERIFY]. Equipment: corrosion-resistant tanks (polyethylene or 316 stainless), acid-resistant hoses, dosing pumps. Trade-off: reduces application losses and improves corn starter effect by 8–15%, but requires equipment CAPEX; for farms already running UAN equipment, the additional investment burden is low.
