MAP (monoammonium phosphate)

Also known as: monoammonium phosphate, ammophos

Full explanation

MAP is the only phosphate product produced at commercial scale in Ukraine (Sumykhimprom), using imported phosphate rock from Morocco and Algeria. Advantage over DAP in starter-band application: lower granule pH (≈4.5 vs 8.0 for DAP), reducing seedling-burn risk when seed contacts the granule. Especially important for corn and sunflower with high starter rates. Rate 80–150 kg/ha physical weight (42–78 kg P₂O₅/ha). April 2026 price: UAH 32 000–38 000/t [VERIFY]. Alternative — NPK 10:26:26 or 8:24:24 with added potassium for high-K-demand crops. Trade-off: MAP is cheaper per kg P₂O₅ than DAP and safer near seed, but contains less N — if extra starter nitrogen is needed, urea or AN must be added separately.
