About this product
Larson (FAO 250) — maize seed Larson (FAO 250) — a universal mid-early maize hybrid for obtaining high-quality grain, which is ideally suited for growing in the various agro-climatic regions of Ukraine. Thanks to powerful starting growth, effective moisture release and high resistance to stress conditions, Larson provides a stable yield even in difficult seasons. It is intended exclusively for sowing maize for grain (groats).
Purpose and application Larson (FAO 250) is recommended for agricultural producers who focus on growing maize for grain in the zones of the Steppe, the Forest-Steppe and Polissia. The hybrid is ideally suited for intensive and moderately intensive technologies with an emphasis on early development of the areas, fast ripening and obtaining grain with low moisture at harvest. It is the optimal choice for farms that seek to combine a high yield with minimal post-harvest costs.
Advantages of use Rapid initial growth makes it easier to form dense and uniform seedlings, provides a competitive advantage over weeds. Powerful resistance to lodging and weather stresses (drought), which guarantees the preservation of the yield in critical conditions. High tolerance to the main diseases (helminthosporiosis, fusarium, common smut) reduces the risk of losses. Effective moisture release makes it possible to obtain grain with a moisture content of about 14% at harvest — this minimizes the costs of drying. Features and unique properties A hybrid of the mid-early maturity group (FAO 250), adapted to different growing regions. A tall powerful plant (310 cm) with a convenient ear attachment height (110 cm) for modern machinery. Genetically programmed stability of yield and strength of the stem to reduce the risk of lodging. Compatibility with the regional sowing density norms provides flexibility in technological approaches. Technical specifications Originator: LLC «TK Art-Agro» Hybrid type: Single-cross, mid-early, of universal purpose Maturity group (FAO): 250 In variety trials since: 2020 Recommended sowing density: Steppe: 60 000 – 70 000 seeds/ha Forest-Steppe: 65 000 – 80 000 seeds/ha Polissia: 80 000 – 85 000 seeds/ha Yield potential: Up to 14 t/ha Average yield: 8,9 t/ha Moisture at harvest: About 14% Morphometry: Plant height: 310 cm Ear attachment height: 110 cm Structure of the ear and grain: Kernel rows: 14–16 Number of kernels per row: 32–38 Grain type: flint-dent Resistance / tolerance (10-point scale): Helminthosporiosis: 9 points Fusarium: 8 points Drought resistance: 9 points Lodging: 9 points Common smut: 9 points Application recommendations Sowing density: observe the recommended norms for your region in order to realize the potential of the crop in full. Sowing: carry it out on a levelled, well-prepared and warmed seedbed, ensuring a uniform covering depth for uniform emergence. Protection: carry out regular monitoring of the state of the crops, even with a high tolerance to diseases — react in good time to changes in the phytosanitary situation. Harvesting: the optimal period is at a grain moisture content of 14%, which simplifies storage and reduces post-harvest costs. Seed storage: store in dry rooms protected from direct sunlight, in the factory packaging, at a temperature of up to +10°C and a relative humidity of no more than 60%. Product benefits High yield potential (up to 14 t/ha) owing to the genetically embedded traits of the hybrid. Maximum resistance to drought, lodging and the main diseases — preservation of the yield in difficult conditions. Early initial development and fast moisture release shorten the production cycle and reduce the energy costs of drying. Adaptation to different regional growing technologies and sowing densities — a universal choice for Ukrainian agricultural producers. Stability and profitability — confirmed by trials starting from 2020. Why Larson (FAO 250) is chosen Larson is an investment in the result: a stable yield, minimal technological risks and high adaptability to different agro-climatic conditions. This offer covers the needs of the modern agricultural producer for reliability, quality and support during sowing and harvesting.
