Term

Humate (potassium or sodium)

Also known as: humic substance, humic acid product

Full explanation

Humates act as biostimulants via several mechanisms: stimulation of soil microflora, chelation of micronutrients (improving availability), root-growth activation via auxin-like effects. Ukrainian producers: Agrolife, Humat+, Terra, Humat-80, Kyiv Humate Plant; raw material — Oleksandriya lignite (Kirovohrad oblast), Polissia lowland peat. Forms: liquid 8–12% active, powder 60–80% active. Rates: foliar 0.2–0.5 L/ha in stress phases (after herbicide, before frost), in tank mixes with crop-protection products. Seed treatment 0.3–0.5 L/t. April 2026 price: UAH 80–180/L liquid [VERIFY]. Registration: State Register of Pesticides and Agrochemicals. Trade-off: cheap insurance technology with low cost of error, but the 5–8% yield-boost effect only materializes under stress with responsive crops. For ROI calculations, expense should be compared to probable yield uplift, not guaranteed.
