Olimac·Harvesters
About this product
A header for harvesting maize. An adapter for the John Deere combine harvester.
The headers of the Olimac company have the longest rollers, 67 cm, which are fitted with pulling knives. The long rollers give more time for the maize stalk to pass from top to bottom, so they rotate more slowly than in other headers. As a result the cob, striking against the hood, does not bounce up and does not fly out onto the ground. The knives on the pulling rollers do not slip even on wet stalks and additionally chop the stalk into a "sausage".
Self-adjusting decks. Depending on the incoming mass of maize, the decks, separately on each row, automatically adjust the gap within a range of 22-42 mm (which other headers do not have). When one suppressed row is encountered, or a section of the field where the maize is suppressed or small, the decks of each row narrow separately and do not let a small cob fall onto the ground. When maize grains are scattered over the field (as if from a handful) - this is a small cob ground up by the pulling rollers. After this header there is none of that.
Besides the pulling knives, which are located on the rollers, the header has self-sharpening horizontal knives, which are positioned at the centre of the row and cover the cutting zone well and chop the stalks perfectly. Chopping with two knives saves 20% of fuel compared with the three knives of other headers. Thanks to the tungsten carbide brazing on the blades of the knife, the body of the knife - the metal - wears away, while the blade with the brazing always remains sharp as a razor (the self-sharpening effect). Thanks to the constantly sharp knives the load on the chopping mechanism of the header is reduced, and the fuel consumption of the combine harvester is reduced.
The drive chains (on the sides of the header) are located in sealed oil baths. Thanks to this the ingress of dust and the heating and stretching of the chains are excluded. Service life - 2-3 seasons.
Fluorescent hoods «glow» at night, reflecting the lighting of the combine harvester. This makes it possible to guide the header along the rows well. The hoods are made of thin metal and absorb the impacts of the cobs well. The hoods, thanks to their length (since the rollers are 67 cm.), lie almost horizontal to the ground and completely rule out the cob being thrown «forward onto the ground».
Only the Olimac header can additionally be equipped with adapters for harvesting sunflower. The active cutting of sunflower stalks by rotating segments prevents the shedding of the seeds, and the low cost of such an adapter saves money on the purchase of a sunflower header.
Olimac reduces grain losses by a minimum of 2 c/ha compared with all other headers. (Proven by the results of research by an institute in the state of Iowa, USA). The Olimac header, at a maize price of 2000 UAH/tonne, over 1000 hectares in one season, recovers its cost solely through the reduction of losses.
