Full explanation
VRA project phases: (1) data collection — grid soil sampling (1 point per 3–5 ha, GPS-tagged), yield maps (from combine), NDVI/NDRE from satellite (free Sentinel-2) or drone; (2) management-zone creation — dividing the field into 3–7 fertility zones; (3) prescription generation — in software (Trimble Ag Software, JD Operations Center, AgLeader SMS, MyJohnDeere, FarmersEdge) produces an ISOXML or shapefile with rates; (4) upload to the tractor/drill/sprayer terminal; (5) execution — the controller changes rate by GPS coordinate; (6) results review. Benefits: (1) fertilizer — 10–20% N savings, soil-pH normalization (variable-rate liming); (2) seed — +3–5% yield; (3) plant protection — spot treatment by weed zone. Ukraine adoption has grown since 2018–2020. April 2026 estimate [VERIFY]: 8–15% of 1,000+ ha farms use VRA for at least some fertilizer.
