Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the world's most popular herbicide, Roundup (Bayer), and many generic alternatives. It works systemically: penetrating through leaves, inhibiting the EPSPS enzyme in plants, and killing all above- and below-ground growth. In Ukraine, the standard rate is 2–4 L/ha for pre-emergent treatment before maize, sunflower, and soybean sowing; 4–6 L/ha on heavily weedy stubble. Application runs 7–14 days before sowing at temperatures above 10°C. April 2026 pricing is 220–280 UAH/L depending on brand.
