Ammonium-N binds to the soil exchange complex; nitrate leaches with rain. DMPP keeps N in the stable ammonium form longer, especially important on: (1) sandy Polissia soils with high leaching risk; (2) waterlogged soils with denitrification risk; (3) winter crops with autumn N applications; (4) corn with single-pass starter applications of full N rate. Products: ENTEC 26 (AN + DMPP, BASF), SulfAmmo 26 with S, Ukrainian generics. Used as an additive to AN, UAN-32, urea. April 2026 price: premium +UAH 800–1 500/t over standard fertilizer [VERIFY]. Trade-off: 5–10% higher product cost, but returns come from: reduced N losses, lower N₂O emissions (important for EU export under CBAM-2026), single-pass applications instead of splits — operational savings. Not needed with even 50–80 mm monthly rainfall.
