About the brand

FG Wilson was founded in 1966 in Belfast by Frederick George Wilson as a small engineering company making diesel generators for local industry. In 1999 Caterpillar Inc. acquired it for £375 million, making FG Wilson the core of CAT's generator business. Today FG Wilson is one of the world's three largest diesel generator makers: 700,000+ units installed in 150+ countries, 2,500 employees, and a 1-million-sq-ft Belfast factory. Generators use Perkins engines (also a Caterpillar division) and Leroy-Somer or Mecc Alte alternators. Range: 6.8 kVA (compact domestic) to 2,500 kVA (industrial).
