About the brand
BASF SE was founded in 1865 in Germany as Badische Anilin- und Soda-Fabrik — a factory for aniline dyes and soda ash. Over more than 160 years, BASF has grown into the world's largest chemical corporation, with revenue above €80 billion and operations in more than 80 countries. The headquarters in Ludwigshafen hosts the largest integrated chemical site in the world. BASF's agricultural arm — BASF Agricultural Solutions — covers crop protection, seeds, and innovative solutions. BASF's signature development is the Clearfield system — a combination of herbicide-tolerant hybrids and imazamox herbicides that enables effective weed control in sunflower without damaging the crop. Key products in Ukraine: Abacus (kresoxim-methyl + epoxiconazole), Magnello (tebuconazole + difenoconazole) fungicides, Fastac (alpha-cypermethrin) insecticide, and Stomp and Pulsar Plus herbicides. BASF is known for high-quality formulations with improved adhesion and stability — important for Ukrainian weather with frequent May rain.

Presence in Ukraine
BASF has been active in Ukraine since 1995 — two years earlier than most competitors, which gave the company a firm position during the transformation of Ukrainian agriculture. BASF Ukraine in Kyiv coordinates distribution through more than 60 official partners across all regions. BASF is especially strong in cereal fungicides — Abacus and Magnello are the benchmark for protecting wheat from septoria and leaf rust. The Clearfield system for sunflower, introduced to Ukraine in 2005, now covers about 55% of Ukrainian sunflower area, and BASF earns royalties on every tonne of seed produced in the system. In 2024–2025, BASF continued investing in Ukraine, including expanding a local warehouse complex in Zhytomyr Oblast. On ADAM in April 2026, BASF products are quoted by 5–7 distributors in crop protection with an average response time of 6.8 hours. The top-demand items are Abacus, Fastac, Stomp, and the Alaska micro-nutrient line.
