About the brand
Pioneer Hi-Bred International was founded in 1926 in Iowa by Henry Wallace — later US Vice President and Secretary of Agriculture. The company was the first in the world to commercialize hybrid maize, launching a genetic revolution that doubled global yields over 30 years. In 1999 Pioneer was acquired by DuPont, and in 2019 the brand joined the newly formed Corteva Agriscience after the DowDuPont split. Pioneer remains the flagship of Corteva's seed segment thanks to dedicated brand management and separate breeding centers. The global network includes 50+ research stations in 20+ countries, giving Pioneer the broadest genetic base in the industry. Key product categories: maize (the brand's core strength with 200+ hybrids), sunflower (high oil content), soybean (glyphosate-tolerant lines), winter wheat, alfalfa, and forage grasses. Technology edge: the Optimum AQUAmax platform for drought-tolerant maize hybrids that preserve yields under 30-40% water deficit.

Presence in Ukraine
Pioneer has been in Ukraine since 1993 — one of the earliest Western seed brands after the Soviet collapse. Distribution through Corteva Ukraine in Kyiv and a network of 60+ official partners. A breeding and testing station in Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi (Kyiv Oblast) adapts hybrids to Ukrainian conditions. Pioneer holds about 20% of the Ukrainian maize seed market and ~18% of sunflower, making it second overall after Dekalb (Bayer). Top 2026 Ukrainian hybrids: P9903 (FAO 290 maize, universal for Forest-Steppe), P0217 (FAO 230 early for Polissia and Northern Steppe), PR64F66 (high-oil sunflower), P64LE25 (Clearfield hybrid). On ADAM in April 2026, Pioneer products are quoted by 4–6 distributors with an average response time of 6.5 hours. A 3–5% brand premium over the market average is offset by stable 3-season yield performance.
